Following on from the ‘UK Aspiring Healthcare Event’, on 13th and 14th July, three of our year 10 students had the opportunity to attend the National Aspiring Doc- tors Conference 2019 at the University of Oxford. Reetika had won a free ticket from a raffle she entered at the ‘UK Aspiring Healthcare Event’ in June and Gener- ation Medics kindly offered the school a further two tickets. Birjot and Sejal attend alongside Reetika to learn about the requirements and qualities needs to be a doc- tor. They were given information about the variety of pathways into university and

timelines of the life of trainees such as learning about the foundation years of junior doctors and specialist training. The students were able gain a valuable insight into the life of a doctor first hand as well as receive advice on CVs, types of experience needed and creating effective personal statements.

“It was a worthwhile experience and extremely informative. It increased my clarity about my future.”

“This conference helped me to be more clear about my future plans. Also, it made me be more aspirational for my dreams and how to achieve them.”

A ‘Big Thank you’ to the families of Reetika, Birjot and Sejal who were able to take the students to the event, which enabled them to gain a fantastic insight into this career. The support of such fantastic parents enables Seva School to offer such opportunities to our students. Thank you!
